Explore Sicily

While there is lots to see in Italy, we highly recommend spending a few days before or after the wedding exploring more of Sicily. It would be easy to spend weeks on the Island and still not see it all! Below are two paths to explore in Northern and Eastern Sicily that could be done in 3-5 days.

Eastern Sicily

Taormina

The Amalfi Coast of Sicily! Taormina is known for it’s upscale hotels, resorts, restaurants, and beaches, setting it apart from the more rustic cities in Sicily. It is close to beautiful beaches like Isola Bella, a small island and nature reserve connected to the mainland. After our visit, we think it would be a huge miss not to spend a day or two here while you’re so close.

Distance from venue: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Catania

Catania is Sicily’s second largest city. It is known for its blend of history and modern touches, with lively markets and street life. Lounge at Playa di Catania, take a trip to Mount Etna, or stroll through the city’s essential fish market, La Pescheria.

Distance from venue: 1 hour.

Syracuse

Syracuse is marked by it’s rich history and ancient Greek heritage. It’s home to the Neapolis Archaeological Park which has one of largest and best preserved ancient theaters today. Our welcome party will be here, but we think it is well worth another day or two to experience this incredible city.

Distance from venue: 30 minutes.

Northern Sicily

Palermo

The capital of Sicily, rich with historic landmarks, vibrant street markets, and a unique culinary scene. Take a trip to Mondello Beach, visit the Palazzo dei Normanni, and make sure to try the Sicilian classic Cannoli.

Distance from venue: 3 hours 30 minutes.

Trapani + Favignana

Trapani is the gateway to the Edgadi Islands, like Favignana, which are known for some of the clearest, bluest waters in Italy. Lots of opportunity for snorkeling, diving, and relaxation in this part of Sicily.

Distance from venue: 4 hours 40 minutes.

Cefalu

Cefalu is a coastal town, famous for its beautiful beaches and clear water. Climb la Rocca for a panoramic view of the coastline, relax on the beach, and enjoy sunset views from the many seaside restaurants.

Distance from venue: 3 hours.
